Funding Application is Open!
Our goal is to put on fundraising events as a great way to raise donations. Rob was enthusiastic about running and helping others in that journey. We plan to hold yearly virtual and in-person running events. As we continue to grow, keep a look out for other events that will bring people together and help our cause.
We will use all donations to give back to the Chautauqua region. Qualified organizations can apply on our website and it will go through our approval process. You must be a 501c3 non profit, school, or municipality. We are focused on giving back to any qualified organization that uphold the values of community.
Rob was someone that embodied empathy, ethics, hard work, and dedication to the communities he served. He is someone that would do anything at anytime for anyone. Our goal is to keep those values alive through his name.
Rob was born in Rantoul, Illinois, the son of Mary and Robert Liebers. When Rob was four years old, the family moved to Schenectady where Rob enjoyed what he always described as an idyllic childhood. A graduate of Linton High School in Schenectady, Rob earned a B.A. in sociology at the University of Rochester and a law degree from Case Western Reserve University College of Law in Cleveland, Ohio. A talented, well-respected, and compassionate lawyer, Rob worked with several firms in Schenectady and devoted most of his legal career to Burgett & Robbins, where he served as lead litigation and trial counsel in civil, criminal and administrative matters. He also served the Chautauqua County Public Defender's Office, where he never turned down a case. In his later years, Rob also took on the additional role of Administrative Law Judge for the NYS Gaming Commission.
Rob acquired a reputation for mentoring young lawyers and creating lifelong bonds with the people he represented. His other passions were his family – four children, four grandchildren and a large extended family – and running.
Since high school, where he excelled at cross-country and track, he ran competitively and eventually achieved a Masters level national ranking at several distances. He also served as president of the Chautauqua Striders Track Club and secretary of the USA Track and Field Niagara Association.
It's hard to just put into words who rob was. He was more than a respected attorney or runner, he brought happiness to everyone he met. Like many others, Rob knew life brought it's struggles, but he always believed in making something positive out of any situation. He exemplified what being compassionate and being a good person actually meant. Having Rob as part of any community was a gift to everyone that was part of it.
